Crazy Police Racers

Crazy Police Racers is a fun, action-packed game in which the player has to drive as fast as possible to complete each level in the allowed time.

The premise of the game is for the player to 'learn' how to drive like a policeman, speeding in hot pursuit of criminals and reaching the scene of the crime as promptly as possible. There are a number of excellently depicted scenarios for the player to test his or her skills in. The player can choose from any of twelve vehicles, all suitably official looking, with red and blue lights, authentic check-board high-visibility markings and appropriately high-powered engines.

Compete against other official vehicles in an effort to reach the crime scene earliest. The game guides the player in the right direction, with an arrow pointing the way to turn and with a series of yellow dotted arches offering a tempting trail of bonus points to spur the player on to ever greater efforts. If the player strays too far off course the arrow becomes red or orange: the ideal is to keep it green as that means that the player is not wasting time by losing his or her way, sacrificing valuable seconds in the process!

There are fifteen exciting and adrenaline pumping routes to keep the player engaged and interested in the game and there is a deep satisfaction in beating one's own personal best, improving on times and driving skills!

While learning each route, and getting to grips with the benefits and shortcomings of each different vehicle can be challenging and exciting, once this is done there is little to keep interest in the game high and players may become bored and lose interest in the game. In fact, die-hard fans of racing style games may find that Crazy Police Racers does not hold much attraction for them: yes, the graphics are good and the driving experience is satisfactory, the sound effects are adequate and the night-time scenery (presumably chosen for greater dramatic effect and because a great deal of police work happens at night, although it is also more plausible to have emptier streets in the dark, small hours) is effective and exotic, but the premise of the game is very simple: players race their cars. There is no backstory, few achievements to be earned and no hidden challenges, mini-games or bonus levels to be unlocked: what you see is what you get. However, as a starting point into the world of racing games, Crazy Police Racers is a good game, especially for younger gamers.
